Full renovation inside and out of a derelict London townhouse, restoring it to a four bedroom family home with a modern extension and contemporary fittings
Outside, the original brickwork and historic detailing have been restored and the front and back gardens sensitively landscaped. Inside, the thermal performance of the building is vastly improved with internal insulation and high performance timber frame windows.
A two-storey infill extension, with generous window proportions, enlarges the living areas and enhances the link to the garden. The lower ground floor element is visually lightweight and complementary in materiality and detailing, with timber cladding and modern windows. The upper ground floor portion is brick-faced and is linked back to the main house with a glass roof, giving the addition a sensitive connection to the host structure.
