The Blog

Following an intensive Passivhaus course and a three-hour written examination, I have qualified as a Certified Passivhaus Designer. This is an internationally recognised certification which demonstrates to clients that I have the knowledge and experience necessary to design Passivhaus buildings.

The standards of energy efficiency and user comfort achieved in Passivhaus buildings are unparalleled in the construction industry. A Passivhaus tends to have a 75% reduction in heating requirements in comparison to a standard new build project in the UK. If that sounds like an enticing prospect to you, please get in touch with me to find out more.

Planning permission has been granted for a JL Studio designed, super-sustainable house in the Dedham Vale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). The home will be designed and built to very high standards of airtightness, thermal performance, internal air quality and passive solar heating. These are core criteria for a Passivhaus building, where both energy efficiency and comfort are of the utmost priority.
